Cyber Monday & Black Friday
Cyber Monday was on November 28, 2022, just four days after Thanksgiving. It is the second biggest shopping day there is, including online shopping holidays. Cyber Monday is where online retailers are able to offer special promotions, discounts, and sales for only 24 hours. However, Cyber Monday usually shows deals before the actual day in order to compete with Black Friday. The history of Cyber Monday was started by the National Retail Federation (NRF) in 2005, using a Shop.org press release by the title of “‘Cyber Monday’ Quickly Becoming One of the Biggest Online Shopping Days of the Year.” After that, Cyber Monday became a hit for online shopping.
Black Friday was on November 25, 2022, the day after Thanksgiving. Just like Cyber Monday, Black Friday also does special shopping deals as well as big discounts on goods such as electronics, toys, and other gifts. Unlike Cyber Monday, Black Friday mainly deals with more in-person shopping instead of online. The history of Black Friday first started back in the 1950's in Philadelphia. Police had used the term to describe how chaotic the day after Thanksgiving was. Suburban shoppers and tourists had flooded the city, and not only that, but the Army-Navy football game that was held on Saturday every year. The name has stuck ever since!
