Halloween Costumes: Then vs. Now
Since the dawn of Halloween, costumes have evolved from simple masks and outfits to elaborate accessories and clothing. Below, you will find pictures of Halloween costumes from the 1920s to now!
1920's
Since teenagers and children caused chaos on Halloween night, parents organized events such as trick-or-treating to keep them entertained.
1950's
During this time, box costumes were more available and affordable, so they became a lot more popular.
1980's
Costumes started to resemble famous superheroes, such as Batman and The Thing.
2020's
Today’s costumes come in a variety of themes, from a sunflower to the Mad Hatter and Alice!
One major item that evolved throughout the years would be the Halloween mask. In the 1920-1930s, families would have to make their own paper mache masks, which had some creepy results. Today, you can find a good quality mask at your local halloween store, or even at some supermarkets and clothing outlets!
