MEDIC Blood Drive
Updated: Dec 9, 2022
The MEDIC Blood Drive here at Oliver Spring High School was on October 24, 2022 from 8:30am to 2:30pm. The MEDIC Regional Blood Center is an organization that comes around and has willing participants donate blood to those who are in need. Once the person has donated their blood, the donation will go to units that are suitable for transfusion and will be labeled and stored in refrigerators for up to 42 days. The most needed blood type is A+, which is used for transfusions. Similar to A+, O- is also used for transfusions. Another blood type is O+, which is given to more patients than any other blood type. Students age 16 may donate with parent signed permission slips, and those 17+ may participate without parent permission. Regardless of age, participants in the blood drive will get rewards. These rewards include: a cool t-shirt and/or a Texas Roadhouse coupon token, as well as a red graduation cord when you donate four times!
