New Years Traditions
New Year's traditions are celebrated all around the world and each one is unique. Here in the United States, New Year’s can be celebrated in different ways; here are a few traditions: families and friends gather around for a meal, toast and songs, and watch a television broadcast of New Year's festivities at Time Square. In Germany, France, and Croatia, their celebrations are a little bit different. In Germany, they celebrate by including fireworks, champagne, lucky charms, even enjoying hours of feasting, etc. France celebrates by having a feast called le Réveillon de Saint-Sylvestre. This feast consists of traditional dishes that purportedly bring prosperity and good luck to those who attend the dinner. Lastly, Croatia celebrates New Year's, or Silvestrovo, with fireworks and toasts. When welcoming the New Year, the Croatians clean their homes, wear elegant clothing, and prepare delicacies to share with their families and friends. Overall, New Year’s is celebrated in extraordinary ways, even in different countries!
