Oliver Springs: Where Hidden Talent Springs

On Friday, December 2nd, OSHS held a talent show as a fundraiser for the theater arts program and to support talented students who wanted to show off their tricks! This event took place in school at 2:00 and after school at 6:30. Entry for the in-school program was two dollars per student; this would grant them access to the in school program and the after school program as well. The ticket price for the after school program was five dollars and tickets could be purchased online. There were seven students who participated in this show, their talents ranging from poetry to flag spinning.

Mr. Robbie Underwood, Mrs. Margie Smith, and Mrs. Deborah Rice volunteered their time and effort to come out and judge our show. They all did an amazing job, however the judges had a tough job of having to select only three students to receive placement awards. Our first place winner was Hunter Seiber, second place was Katie Melhorn, and third place was Maria Smith. We had two amazing hosts at the show; thank you to Aydan Cardwell and Lilly Akins for keeping us entertained and informed between acts! Overall, the talent show was a great success while it also succeeded in raising money for our school. A current student Evan Cline said ¨This show really opened my eyes to the special abilities that some of my friends have.¨ When participant of the show Hunter Seiber was asked about his opinion of the show he said that he loved the experience and he was thankful to have Mrs. Carter set up this program so students could share their talents with the world. Several other students volunteered their time to help with concessions, intermissions, cleaning, ticket sales, and overall preparation. All of this was made possible by Mrs. Carter, our school's journalism, theater, and English teacher, as well as all of the amazing students who gave their time in order to make this program possible.
