Peace on Earth, Goodwill Towards All

Everyone loves this time of year, when hearts are warmed and people are passionate about helping others. One of the best ways to give back is donating or volunteering for charities. Even if you feel incapable of helping others financially, your time and effort put into volunteering can add substantial contributions. Some of the most popular holiday charities are Pay Away the Layaway, One Simple Wish, and Toys for Tots. These foundations help children obtain necessities through donations of clothes, used items, toys, or even helping a family pay for medical bills. There are also charities like St. Jude, Feeding America's Hungry Children, Foster Care to Success, and Good360 that help contribute to families getting back on their feet and giving children of America a chance for a better future.

Beyond that, some of the best causes to give do not have to be related to the holidays; kindness is a year-round philosophy. Doctors Without Borders, The Red Cross, Union of Concerned Scientists, and Earthjustice are all salient to helping our world. Being of service to these charities contributes to more than aiding and supporting kids, it contributes to the world. It gives a chance for places without access to medical attention or safe conditions to overcome the cards that have been dealt, or helps researchers clean our world by reversing the damage done to our planet.

Whether great or small, any contribution of money, donations, or volunteering can alter the course of someone's life. There are offices and donation centers all across Tennessee for multitudinous charities, and even animal shelters. There is no scarcity of people in need, but not everyone is capable of lending a helping hand. So please, if you have a way of changing lives for the better, do it! Kindness is always in high demand.
