As a new year begins, so does the Roane County Youth Leadership application process! Many people really don't know what this group is. Roane County Youth Leadership is a group of exceptional young men and women from Roane County who want to learn and improve their community. Early in the summer, members participate in a week-long day camp where they learn the history of successful businesses and learn about different occupations and opportunities. Members learn team building, critical thinking, and leadership qualities throughout all of these activities.. Throughout the year, Mrs. Parks, the head of the RCYL, holds a few meetings to discuss service projects and further leadership lessons. Meetings are held at the Roane County Leadership office in Kingston. At the end of the year, a graduation ceremony takes place where all members are recognized for their hard work and dedication. This program looks great on college and job applications as it is a very selective program. To get an application, see the front office, or come and ask past members, Sophia Freels, Lydia Yoakley, Carson Nivens, Nicole Gann, Emma Proffitt, and Walker Booth, who would be more than willing to help. One can also receive an application by emailing roaneyouthleadership@gmail.com. Be quick; the deadline to submit applications is February 15th!
