Staff Spotlight

As everyone knows we have amazing teachers and staff here at Oliver Springs High School. Each edition we hold a teacher spotlight in appreciation of what each and every one of the staff members here do! This edition we have decided to highlight Mrs. Channell– our beloved science teacher. Since the Spring of 2001, Mrs. Channell has been a part of our staff and stuck with us ever since. We love her and are so glad she has taught us OSHS students for close to 22 years! She attended Harriman High School and then later went on to attend MTSU to get her bachelors and UTK for her Masters.

Mrs. Channell stated that her experience at THE high school at first was rough, but in the end, she grew to love the students and staff. Fun Fact: she started out without a classroom and just had a rolly cart. We asked her what her opinion was on the merger and in short she had claimed to prefer a separate building with its own identity, but with understanding of why the merger has to happen she thinks that it will be successful. We are excited to hear that Mrs. Channell's favorite part of OSHS is us students. With the 2022-2023 school year coming to an end soon, we hope our beloved teacher will stay with us. To conclude, Mrs. Channell left a piece of advice for us; she said “High school is one of the most fun but foundational times of your life, each student should be able to harness academics while being happy with teenager life.” Mrs. Channell, we love you and are so excited you are a part of THE high school.
