Along with the reinstitution of the newspaper, something else that has recently made a comeback in the school: the theater department. After Mrs. Burnette’s departure in 2018, the Oliver Springs theater department was all but disregarded; the class was given to the art teacher at the time. A wonder group of kids two years ago wanted to do a play… and, oh boy, did they! In spite of all the setbacks, the theater class of 2020 pulled off a magnificent production, the first in years. Since then, the school’s theater department has put on three plays (including the aforementioned one): Lafayette No.1 (Mandy Conner), The Charge Is Murder (Luella B. McMahon), and the latest Little Women (L. Don Swartz). In this bright new tradition, the theater department is excited to announce the theater club. The new theater teacher, Mrs. Carter, has formed this institution. It is important to note that the drama club is a separate entity of the theater class, which still is offered. This club will meet every Monday after school from 3:30 to 5:30. For anyone that wants to be in the theater club, be looking for more information about signing up with Mrs. Carter.
