OSHS Once Again Achieves a Distinguished Growth Title as a New Year Begins
Welcome back Bobcat Nation to another great year at Oliver Springs High School (The High School)! We are so excited for the upcoming school year with all the new students and staff (check that out later in this edition). We are glad to announce that this is the fifth year in a row Oliver Springs High School has been a level five school. According to our guidance counselor, Ms. Carpenter, the designation is based on the school’s growth and academic achievement, 5 being the highest level. As Mr. Nivens, our principal, said when asked what that entails, “[It] means that basically everybody is clicking on all cylinders,
but in the educational world, it means that our teachers and our students are proving that they are learning more….” The administration and counseling department are optimistic for this upcoming year. When asked about what makes this school year different from the past year, Mr. Nivens stated the lift on Covid-19 restrictions and how that eases the school’s operation in this post-pandemic world. “I think that has really helped us out - not only of the students and staff, but also just letting us know that we can move on and can get back on what we are here for.” The counseling department additionally hinted at exciting things coming in the future. “We are starting off a level five school and we have some really cool stuff happening this year,” says Mrs. Carpenter. “It's going to be a great school year.” Here’s to another great school year, with hopes of achieving level 5 once more!
