The Oliver Spring High School Girls Basketball Team started their season with a knock-out win. Their coach, Michelle Christopher, tries to teach her team basketball, but more than that, the importance of life itself. She says, “First and foremost, I create an atmosphere of pride and to teach the girls the importance of positive attitude, confidence, character, work ethic, and goal setting, and how these factors apply in life…. Next comes basketball itself. In my offensive philosophy, I love to push the basketball in transition and execute offensively with a purpose for great shots according to the personnel on the floor. I want to instill pride in stopping the other individual and team from scoring as they want... I believe this makes you a stronger individual to help in real life also.”

During several games they were down by a great number of points, but fought their way back up, making them very close games. When asked what the team needs to work on, Coach K says, “I think first and foremost right now I need to and will be a better leader on the floor for these kids in order for them to reach their full potential. Player wise, they need to be more confident and believe in themselves, individually, and as a team in what they are capable of!”
