The End of Volleyball Season
Tuesday, September 27th, the Oliver Springs High School girls volleyball team battled Harriman for their last game of the season. Tragically, despite their efforts, they lost. These girls have played superbly all season against many challenging rivals. In the words of their adored coach, Tammy Denham, “The team this year was interesting to say the least. We had a team full of strong players who have played a long time…When these girls play like I know they can, and as a unit, they are an unstoppable force in our district.”
Sadly, this season we have to let go of some marvelous seniors: Avery Vickery, Sophia Freels, Jada Stone, and Cloe Murray. As we say goodbye to these girls, their coach has something to say, “I will miss this core group of seniors that are leaving this year. Especially Avery and Sophia. They are the last two of the first group of girls that I started coaching in the sixth grade who played all the way into their senior year. It has been a pleasure to see them grow as athletes and people. Jada and Cloe have also become integral parts of the team, even though they started in high school, they have shown up and became invaluable to the team.… I will miss seeing all of these girls on the court almost everyday.”
